Learn about the history and techniques of different artists and art movements through practical creative lessons. We are delighted to offer a series of 5 week short courses, designed to give you bite-sized nuggets of art inspiration that you can apply to your own painting and drawing projects. This course is open to all and is suitable for absolute beginners and those who wish to develop their art practice in a social and creatively engaging environment. Every session will begin with an informal presentation and an introduction to a new theme. You will have the opportunity to view demonstrations and to explore new techniques at your own pace. 
 
Autumn 1: 14th, 21st, 28th September, 5th & 12th October
Theme: Natural Form
 
Look at a range of contemporary and traditional artists who have explored organic objects through paintings, drawings, collage and sculpture. 
 
Georgia O’Keeffe - using acrylic paints, create your own painting of a magnified flower
Mushrooms and fungi - Explore a range of artists who have produced artwork based on fungi and create your own using drawing media
Mary Delany - create a stunning floral collage using cut paper
Barbara Hepworth - produce an abstract sculpture using air drying clay
Harvest - discover a range of artists who have made work based on fruit and vegetables and create your own interpretation using pastels.
 
This payment entitles you to attend one of the lessons listed above. Payment for one of our Art Inspiration lessons cannot be transferred to a different class that we host in the studio.
