This half term we will explore a range of painting, printing and drawing methodologies and you will be shown how to successfully use a variety of wet and dry media. By taking part on this course, you will improve your observational drawing skills, you will gain a better understanding of how to use different paints and mixed-media processes, and you will have participated in a variety of mindful activities.
All materials, refreshments and car parking is provided, so all you need to bring is yourself!
Session One: 26th February / Gelli printing with stencils
Learn how to layer acrylic paints onto a gel printing plate and use a variety of patterned and hand made stencils. By the end of the class you will have a range of colourful and eye-catching mono-prints that you will be able to frame or use as collage papers. A fun start to the Art Basics short course!
Session Two: 5th March / Biro and marker pen drawings of shoes
Develop your observational drawing skills and discover a range of mark making techniques during this taught class. You will learn to accurately sketch out a still life object and create areas of tonal variation using fineliners, black biros and pens. By the end of the lesson you will have a fantastic study of a shoe to take home.
Session Three: 12th March / Koi carp with watercolour pencils
Learn how to successfully blend water soluble pencils to create a realistic and beautiful artwork depicting fish in a pond. This will be a relaxing activity where you will be able to carefully and mindfully build on your drawing and watercolour skills.
Session Four: 19th March / Oil pastel insects
Explore the world of unusual and unique insects and create a vibrant and bright artwork of a shiny beetle or symmetrical butterfly. During this class you will learn how to blend oil pastels and create areas of shadow and highlights.
Session Five: 26th March / Spring flowers in gouache
Celebrate the longer, lighter days and the colourful flowers that are popping up in our gardens. During this session you will learn gouache painting techniques and you will take home a lovely floral study.
