ART BASICS
5 week short course

Our Art Basics sessions are tailored to those who have not picked up a pencil in years, individuals who wish to reignite their creativity and those who would like a refresher. The classes begin with a short presentation before a structured activity takes place using specific materials.
This half term we will explore a range of painting and drawing methodologies and you will be shown how to successfully use a variety of wet and dry media. By taking part on this course, you will improve your observational drawing skills, you will gain a better understanding of how to use different paints and mixed-media processes, and you will have participated in a variety of mindful activities.
All materials, refreshments and car parking is provided, so all you need to bring is yourself!
Session One: 17th September / Vintage toys in colouring pencils
Join us for a lovely and calm class where you will build on your observational drawing skills, producing an artwork depicting a toy from days gone by. You will consider tonal variation as well as developing your understanding of how to blend colours with pencils effectively.
Session Two: 24th September / Floral designs using masking fluid and watercolours
Create an artwork representing leaves, flowers and foliage using a range of watercolour paints. You will learn how to apply masking fluid as a temporary barrier to the watercolours, to preserve highlights and produce clean lines.
Session 1st October / Landscapes using collage and paper quilling techniques
Utilise a range of colourful and textured collage papers to create an eye-catching seasonal landscape and add further embellishments using paper quilling techniques.
Session Four: 8th October / Autumn leaves with scraper board
Practice your use of line and develop your mark making skills while creating a beautiful image of a leaf on scraper board.
Session Five: 15th October / Abstract acrylics inspired by the seasons
Create a striking abstract artwork using a range of paint application techniques and stencils - no paint brushes required! By the end of the class you will have a wonderful painting inspired by the colours of the changing seasons.
