ART BASICS
5 week short course
Thursday evenings, 6.30 - 8pm
15th, 22nd, 29th January, 5th & 12th February 
£12 for a single lesson 
 
Our Art Basics sessions are tailored to those who have not picked up a pencil in years, individuals who wish to reignite their creativity and those who would like a refresher. The classes begin with a short presentation before a structured activity takes place using specific materials.
 
This half term we will explore a range of painting, printing and drawing methodologies and you will be shown how to successfully use a variety of wet and dry media. By taking part on this course, you will improve your observational drawing skills, you will gain a better understanding of how to use different paints and mixed-media processes, and you will have participated in a variety of mindful activities.
 
All materials, refreshments and car parking is provided, so all you need to bring is yourself!
 
Session One: 15th January / Lino printed birds
Learn how to carve a simple bird design into lino and print multiple copies onto coloured paper and card. A great beginners session looking at single colour print designs. 
 
Session Two: 22nd January / Hands in shading pencils
Look at a range of artist examples before completing a number of brief drawing exercises. You will then develop your understanding of line and tone using a range of pencils. You will take home a number of sketches and a refined drawing depicting human hands. 
 
Session Three: 29th January / Fruit and veg using pen and ink
Build on your observational drawing skills and produce a lovely drawing of colourful peppers and slices of fruit using bamboo pens and black ink. 
 
Session Four: 5th February / Northern Lights in soft pastels
Experiment with coloured soft pastels on black card, and create an atmospheric sky behind silhouetted mountains and tree tops. 
 
Session Five: 12th February / Still Life in acrylics
Take time to unwind and create a beautiful painting of eye-catching objects. During this class you will discover new ways to apply acrylic paint and you will take home a colourful and bright painting.
